Saloon Cars

El Transcantabrico Gran Lujo has four saloon cars, dating from the 1920s, that exude the feeling of a bygone, elegant era, and of a more relaxed way to travel.

The Dining Car, elegant but simple, serves a fine a la carte and buffet breakfast every morning as well as fine chef-prepared dining for those dinners or lunches served on board.

The Bar Car is permanently open; here you can sit back and enjoy a quiet drink whilst reflecting on the passing scenery.

Other EL Transcantabrico Gran Lujo carriages such as the Tea Saloon, the Panorama Coach and the Entertainment Saloon, a small night-club, where lively entertainment is provided every night until the early hours of the morning.

There is a small library with newspapers and magazines; DVDs and television are available on board.

Catering:

Breakfasts and most dinners are taken onboard. Most lunches are in local restaurants, allowing one to sample the regional cuisine ranging from fish specialities in the Galician region through to meat dishes as one heads through the Basque country to León. The number of lunches or dinners eaten on or off are liable to change.

Some of the best cuisine in Spain is found in the regions of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country and Castilla y León. The cheeses, sausages, meat, vegetables, fish and seafood are renowned. The menus include table wines (unassuming but appropriate for the venue) that blend harmoniously with the ingredients of each lunch and dinner. Coffee and liqueurs are also included.

The chosen restaurants select the highest quality ingredients prepared by professional chefs. They are also the ideal settings for sampling the local cuisine.
