Rome to Venice - La Dolce Vita Orient Express

Departing from Rome at midday, the route weaves through the scenic countryside of Tuscany, stopping in Bolgheri and culminating in the iconic city of Venice.

Day 1 – Rome and Bolgheri

Your journey begins with a private transfer from your hotel or the airport to Roma Ostiense station, where you may relax in the La Dolce Vita lounge, an intimate and elegant space.

Departure is scheduled for late morning. On board, a gourmet lunch crafted by three-Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck awaits, inspired by the flavours of the region.

In the early afternoon, arrival in Bolgheri, a small medieval village where you may stroll at your leisure or choose from a selection of à la carte experiences, thoughtfully curated in every detail.

Back on board La Dolce Vita Orient Express, the evening continues in the Restaurant Car, where dinner accompanies the final hours of the day. To follow, a live musical performance with singer, musician and pianist creates an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere, bringing the day to a close.

Day 2 – Venice

The last day begins with breakfast served in the comfort of your private cabin or in the Restaurant Car, as the landscape slowly unfolds beyond the windows and the train continues its journey towards its final destination: La Serenissima.

Upon arrival at Venezia Santa Lucia station, a private transfer leads into the heart of the city, among picturesque views, historic palaces and reflections on the water.

Begin your journey at the station, where a fleet of vintage cars is ready to take you into the Tuscan countryside.

The drive unfolds along the Cypress Road, crossing rolling landscapes all the way to Bolgheri. The village reveals itself quietly, surrounded by hills and narrow streets that keep a slow pace of life.

The experience continues at a nearby winery, set within a private estate. A guided visit leads you through the cellars and production areas, followed by insights into the estate’s history and work.

Booking & Payment

  • Deposit: 15% of the fare is due at the time of booking.
  • Final payment: the balance is due no less than 65 days before departure (the operator requires full payment 60 days out).
  • Fares are per person in EUR unless stated otherwise.

Cancellation

Per the operator’s current General Conditions of Sale (La Dolce Vita Orient Express, April 2026), cancellation charges as a percentage of the total fare are:

  • 61 days or more before departure: 15% (the deposit)
  • 60 to 31 days before departure: 50%
  • 30 days or less before departure: 100%

Changes

  • One change of date or itinerary is free of charge; each further change is €200.
  • Less than 30 days before departure, a change of date or itinerary is treated as a cancellation.
  • Name changes/transfers are subject to the actual costs of transfer and are not permitted within 30 days of departure.

Operator cancellation

The operator may cancel a departure if train occupancy is below 20% (notified at least 90 days before departure) or in exceptional and unavoidable circumstances; in that case all payments are refunded in full within 14 days.
